The International Best Young Driver Contest is an initiative to raise awareness of road safety among young drivers. It aims to put forward the message that young drivers can drive responsibly and safely as well as they can set a good example to both their peers and adults.
The Contest gathers young drivers aged 18 to 26 and tests a variety of skills that are considered essential to being a good driver. Not only do they have to showcase their competence behind the wheel, but also in real-life circumstances, first aid, knowledge of traffic rules, road safety and vehicles.
The International Best Young Driver Contest originated from the Automobile Association of Slovenia (AMZS) in 2017. The Contest has proven to be a successful opportunity to connect with younger audiences as national contests have gained outstanding participation results. Young drivers shared having heard about the Contest on social media, email newsletters and Club magazines, highlighting the keen interest of younger audiences.
Each year, the winner of the International Best Young Driver Contest wins a Grand Prix experience in Europe.
The International Best Young Driver Contest is supported by the Safe and Sustainability Grant Programme and the FIA Foundation.
